How can I get better definition?

I am planning on entering a fitness competition but I still have body fat that I need to lose. The competition is in 5 months so how do I start training seriously?

Well, congratulations for entering the fitness competition in the first place! Doing that takes a lot of courage and hard work – obviously something that you have a lot of, considering. I wish you all the best of luck for it.
Luckily, you have quite a bit of time to get ready for it (as long as you have no more than 6 – 8% body fat to drop before hand and even better if you have less than that! Ideally, fitness competitors have less than 15% body fat, depending on the category.

Start by cleaning up your eating habits and beginning an aggressive weight training program. Remember to focus on complete, all over toning and strengthening as you will be judged on virtually all levels of your appearance. Do not neglect any body parts as it will only hurt you in the end. About 4 weeks before the competition, swear off as much carbs as you can spare and indulge in lots of lean protein and raw fruits and vegetables.
