Depending on how fast (or how slow) you complete one mile as well as how much you weight will determine how many calories are burned.

For example, a 150 lbs women who walks at a speed of 3 mph will be able to (complete one mile in 20 minutes) burning roughly 75 calories. If the same women sped up her pace and walked that one mile in 12 minutes, she would burn 109 calories.
