Is running the most effective way to lose weight?

Running sometimes hurt my knees but my friend told me it's the best way to lose weight. Is there something else I could do that is equally effective?

Running is a great way to keep in shape, assuming you enjoy doing it and take precautions to keep your joints pain and injury free. It isn`t, however, always the best choice for permanent weight loss. Because running is a long term activity, meaning that it requires an extended period of time at a steady rate in order to burn fat, it can take up a lot of time in your otherwise busy life schedules.

Using HIIT, high intensity interval training, you can decrease the amount of time you spend working out. HIIT is the best and quickest way to provide your body with fat burning cardio training and because it is so fast paced, it is nearly impossible to become bored.

Try training such as CrossFit, Tabata, or kickboxing and invent new ways to incorporate intervals for an intense workout.
