How to Start Living Healthy

Live a healthy lifestyle and have a happier life.

Living healthy generally means looking and feeling your best through the regular exercise and a proper diet, but have you ever stopped to think if you are really and truly healthy? Having a healthy lifestyle requires a more proactive approach it terms of your medical issues such as having regular check ups with your doctor, making sure you embrace an active lifestyle, or keeping your stress in check. Here are a few tricks to keeping your life healthy and satisfying.

1.) Adopt an attitude of putting a little bounce in every step. Adding small doses of activity into your daily routine is the key to living healthy. Obviously, regular exercise is important; however, you can’t workout hard three times per week and once you’re done the workout, go home and sit on the couch for several hours, it’s simply counterproductive. A healthy lifestyle requires constant movement on top of a structured program.

2.) Make sure to eliminate as much processed food as you can to ensure optimal health. Aim to eat at least 5 – 10 servings of fresh fruits and vegetables on a daily basis as well as switching your grain products over to whole wheat products. Choose oil / vinegar dressing over full fat creamy salad dressings and try to incorporate more low or non-fat dairy products into your days. You are what you eat.

3.) Make sure to schedule regular check ups with you doctor, dentist, and optometrist every year to keep your body running in tip-top shape. A lot can happen in one year and your medical professional team should always be kept up to date. This also includes performing any major medical testing, such as mammograms, PAP tests and prostate exams, or colonoscopies when required and not allowing them to be put off.

4.) Try to keep your stress levels as low as possible. Stress often is a factor when it comes to overeating or neglecting to exercise and can have some pretty negative effects on the body. Take the time to learn some stress reducing exercises such as meditation or yoga to help cleanse your mental blackboard.

5.) Enroll others around you to adopt a similar lifestyle choice and give each other encouragement. There is nothing quite like having a team of your own personal cheerleaders around you all the time.
