DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)

Definition

DOMS occurs generally 12 – 48 hours after a workout and is characterized as a sore, aching pain in the muscle.

Additional - what is the meaning of DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness)?

DOMS usually occurs after strenuous workouts and is due to microscopic tears in the muscle tissue. As it takes a couple of days for the tissue to repair and rebuild itself, DOMDS is thought to be an indication of that process. Ultimately, the tissue will grow back stronger that is was before which leads to increased muscle mass.
