How to Make Healthy Apple Chocolate Cake


  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup applesauce
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 apple, chopped and peeled (1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup sweetener
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon


  1. Preheat your oven to 350’ F.
  2. Combine first five ingredients, all the dry ingredients, in a large mixing bowl and mix well to thoroughly combine.
  3. In another bowl, mix the next four ingredients, the wet ingredients. Add the wet into the dry until just conbined. Do not overmix.
  4. In another bowl, top the apples with cinnamon and fold into the batter.
  5. Spray a baking dish, preferably glass, with cooking spray and pour the batter in.
  6. Bake for about 30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the middle of the cake.
